Our client purchased three abandoned buildings with an alley running between them. The building was to be updated to meet code, remove portions of the walls separating the buildings and make the alley part of the new interconnected building. After considering our option and the client’s needs we placed open archways linking the building from one end to the other to promote traffic flow throughout the facility. The alley became the main entrance with a two story atrium, coffee shop and skylights allowing natural light into the atrium. The second floors of the buildings on either side of the atrium were connected by a new bridge which offered full view of the entryway and coffee shop below.
